Getting our hands green for the planet

Today, Mondelēz International celebrates its 2nd annual Purpose Day – an intentional and powerful moment to reflect on and activate our Purpose to empower people to snack right. We live our Purpose by providing the right snack, for the right moment, made the right way for people, communities and the planet.

Offering the Right Snack means having a broad portfolio ranging from wholesome to indulgent that meets consumers' snacking and well-being needs.

The Right Moment means meeting consumers where they are, both physically and emotionally. That means easy access to our products and helping people consume our products more mindfully.

Made the Right Way means managing our supply chains sustainably, in ways that minimize our impact on the planet, as well as taking a stand to respect the rights and well-being of all people our business touches.

Now more than ever is the time for companies to do what’s right. Consumers, investors, NGOs and employees expect us to conduct ourselves in a responsible manner with respect to people and planet as part of sustainable business growth at scale and ask for greater levels of transparency. The topics of Environmental and Social Impact and Governance (ESG) are very important to MDLZ. We focus on materiality in the areas of sustainable raw material sourcing, climate, plastics, well-being and human rights. You can learn about the great progress we’re making towards our sustainability goals in our Snacking Made Right report.

For this year’s Purpose Day, we’re leaning into the environmental sustainability aspects of our strategy with the theme of “Getting our Hands Green for the Planet.” Individually, we each play a role in protecting our planet and can do more to make our planet a little greener. I’m proud that more than 25,000 colleagues around the world will participate in Purpose Day through a variety of virtual and socially distant in person (where safe to do so) activities including volunteering and a micro-action challenge to reduce water, energy and waste at home.

Yesterday, we connected with nearly 10,000 employees and consumers through a LinkedIn Live chat featuring MDLZ leaders, Sandra MacQuillan, EVP and Chief Supply Chain Officer; Maurizio Brusadelli, EVP and AMEA President; and Chris McGrath, VP and Chief of Global Impact; who talked about our commitment to sustainable snacking and shared examples of the progress we’ve made in environmental sustainability within our supply chain.

As we are guided by our Purpose, I am confident that our approach to sustainability and how we do business helps to create a better future for people and the planet.

Green is the other name of life. Highly appreciate Drik!
