A Family Tradition
As the Chambers Farm sign proudly proclaims, farming has been “a family tradition” since 1898—and the tradition continues. The baton has passed into the hands of Dan Chambers, who grew up the second youngest of six kids and eventually joined his parents, Ken and Peg, to keep the farm going. “I just love being outside, being with cows, raising the crops and being your own boss,” Dan says. “It’s something new every day.”
Growing for Stability
The next generation has come on board, too, with all three of Dan and his wife Sandra’s daughters, Morgan, Linzi, and Natalie now working on the farm. Their youngest, Natalie, also contributes impressive drone videos of the fieldwork. The Chambers have grown the farm since his parents’ time, Dan explains, to help support more family members, provide stability and give team members the chance to take breaks. Dan’s nephew Justin and cousins Luke and Josh also play important roles on the farm. “I don’t want to brag about being glued to the farm,” he says. “We all need balance.”
