Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for gastroenterologists and other healthcare professionals who care for patients with IBS.

The goal of this activity is that learners will be better able to understand topics related to IBS-C pathology, barriers to treatment, and new options for management.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Mechanisms underlying IBS-C symptoms and pathophysiology
    • Clinical data on pharmacologic treatments for IBS-C
  • Have greater competence related to
    • Recommending evidence-based treatment for patients with IBS-C
  • Demonstrate greater confidence in their ability to
    • Individualize IBS-C treatments based on patient-related factors and best clinical evidence
