Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for epileptologists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, pediatricians, nurses, physician assistants, and pharmacists.

The goal of this activity is to increase awareness of drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE), the differential impact of uncontrolled seizures across the lifespan of patients, and the role of neuromodulation in reducing seizure burden in patients with DRE.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Factors involved in the identification of patients with DRE who are candidates for neuromodulation
    • Factors to communicate between providers when patient care transitions from pediatric to adult management
    • Nonseizure consequences associated with poorly controlled seizures
