Invasive GAS illnesses may result in cellulitis, necrotizing fasciitis, pneumonia, and streptococcal toxic shock syndrome. Noninvasive diseases include impetigo and tonsillopharyngitis, which may lead to complications such as poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis and acute rheumatic fever.
