A 75-year-old man with a history of a dilated cardiomyopathy and a left ventricular ejection fraction of 30% presents to his cardiologist for a routine visit several weeks after receiving an implantable cardioverter defibrillator. A 12-lead ECG is obtained and the findings prompt the cardiologist to contact the electrophysiology specialist who inserted the device. Why?
