Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for neurologists, pediatricians, primary care physicians, and other clinicians who manage patients with neuromuscular diseases.

The goal of this activity is for learners to be better able to utilize current and emerging approaches for the timely diagnosis and optimal treatment of patients with DMD.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Role of specific testing tools to arrive at a timely and accurate diagnosis of DMD
    • Pathophysiologic basis of DMD
    • Factors involved in the selection of patients with DMD for RNA-based exon skipping therapies
    • Differences between gene therapies being studied for the management of DMD
    • Current clinical data for gene therapies being studied for the management of DMD
