Target Audience and Goal Statement

This activity is intended for pediatricians, infectious disease specialists and other healthcare practitioners (HCPs) who have an interest in CMV.

The goal of this activity is for learners to be better able to appreciate the burden of CMV, identify patients to screen for CMV, and screen for congenital CMV in newborns.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will:

  • Have increased knowledge regarding the
    • Burden of congenital CMV infection
    • CMV lifecycle and pathogenesis
    • Risk reducing strategies for congenital CMV
  • Have greater competence related to
    • Identifying congenital CMV in newborns
  • Demonstrate greater confidence in their ability to
    • Educate parents/caregivers on significance of congenital CMV
